Penstemon 'Patio Bells Shell'
beard tongue
- Position: full sun or partial shade
- Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: June to August
- Flower colour: pale pink
- Hardiness: frost hardy (will need winter protection in cold areas)
The throat of the buff pink flowers are delicately veined with magenta, creating a very attractive marbled effect. The outward facing to slightly nodding flowers form in loose racemes above the upright, linear green foliage. A charming cultivar that will become tolerant of drought once established. - Garden care: Remove the faded blooms regularly to prolong flowering. Cut back and compost the spent flower stems in autumn and apply a dry mulch around the crown of the plant to protect against frost damage
