    An unusual perennial grass, this produces pale green, strappy leaves in spring, followed by striking spires of narrow, comb-like flowers in early summer. The flowers are deep purple-black, but shine vivid maroon in the sunlight. It makes a striking accent plant at the back of a border. Perfect for gardeners who want something a bit different.
