Alcea 'Halo White'

Hollyhock

Size: 9cm pot Available: within 2 weeks

3 × 9cm pots Available: within 2 weeks

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: moderately-fertile, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: fast-growing
  • Flowering period: June and July
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Creamy-white petals, which become yellow towards their base, crowd the tall, upright stems throughout summer. This single-flowered form can be used for adding height, colour and structure towards the back of the border.

  • Garden care: Water well during dry spells. All hollyhocks are prone to rust. To prevent this, either spray with Bordeaux Mixture (organic) or Murphy Tumbleblite (non-organic) before the trouble appears, and repeat a couple of times during the summer. In autumn cut the plants back to 15cm (6in) above ground.
