Lathyrus latifolius 'White Pearl'
everlasting sweet pea
- Position: full sun or partial shade
- Soil: fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: average to fast-growing
- Flowering period: June to September
- Hardiness: fully hardy
The large, white flowers of this vigorous, tendril climber provide an attractive contrast to the blue-green leaves. Ideal for cutting, the flowers make long-lasting additions to summer bouquets and other fresh arrangements. They are particularly effective when grown as ground-cover in a lightly shaded position, where their flowers seem luminous. - Garden care: Incorporate lots of well-rotted organic matter in the planting hole. Pinch out the shoot tips to encourage bushy growth and tie in new shoots to a support. Cut back the plant to ground level in early spring.
