This cultivar is noted for the steely blue hues which infuse the flowers, stems and top-most foliage as the plants mature. The thistle-like flowers are large and long lasting, and are great for adding interest to a prairie or cottage style planting scheme. They are easy to grow and thrive in well-drained soil in full sun. They cope well in poorer soils and once established they are quite tolerant of drought.

  • Garden care: Lift and divide large colonies in spring. Avoid the temptation to cut back the flower-heads in autumn as they provide interest in the winter garden.
