Spreading clumps of foliage are topped with slender spires of intense purple-blue flowers throughout the summer. Salvias are a cottage garden favourite, and the flowers are attractive to bees and other beneficial insects. This cultivar looks wonderful blended with silvers, rich pinks and plum tones. - Garden care: To prolong flowering remove the flower spikes as soon they start to fade. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in spring.
