  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: humus-rich, moisture retentive soil
  • Rate of growth: fast
  • Hardiness: full hardy

Light green, smooth leaves which can be cooked just like spinach. Packed with vitamins C and A, if you cook the leaves in very little water for a short time it will preserve all the goodness. It is a plant which will grow again quickly after cutting and it can be planted as a successional crop - ideally 2 to 3 times a year.

  • Growing Instructions:
Sow outside - March to September when the air temperature is above 10°C
Sow 1cm deep. Can be slower to germinate than other salad leaves, so don't leave sowing until too late in autumn as you won't get a crop that year. Thin plants to 5cm apart April to October

    Harvest: May to November
