A petite variety of the popular Weigela, this is grown as much for its pretty foliage as for the trumpet-shaped, soft pink flowers that smother it in spring. Each leaf is green in the centre surrounded with a deep band of creamy white, and edged with a fineline of rosy pink. It is easy to grow, and drought tolerant once established. It forms a natural mound, making it ideal for the front of a sunny border or spilling over the edge of a pot. Although it will tolerate some shade, it colours up best in full sun.

  • Garden care: Cut out dead, diseased or damaged branches in autumn.
