Japanese maple

3 litre pot - 25cm £29.99

This shrub is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, moist, well-drained neutral to acid soil
  • Rate of growth: slow-growing
  • Flowering period: April to May
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

There are three different varieties of Japanese maples growing in each pot, so together they create a dazzling display of colourful foliage.

    Each pot contains:
1 x Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum' - with deeply lobed dark purple-red leaves that turn fiery red in autumn.
1 x Acer palmatum 'Going Green' - the lobed foliage emerges a soft lime green before turning fresh green in summer, then shades of orange and red before they are shed.
1 x A. palmatum 'Orange Dream' - beautiful orange-green leaves, turning greener through the summer and orange-yellow in the autumn.

  • Garden care: Add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser around the base of the plants in late spring. No routine pruning is required, just remove any dead, damaged or crossing branches in late autumn or winter when they are fully dormant.
