Bupleurum fruticosum

bupleurum

Product Image
Related to the ever-popular astrantias, this Bupleurum fruticosum is an attractive and unusual plant, which will thrive in any well drained soil as long as it gets lots of sun. Cloud-like umbels of tiny chartreuse flowers appear from midsummer until September above the olive-like blue-green leaves attracting a host of beneficial insects.

These shrubby umbellifers are hardy but short-lived and will self-seed freely the right spot. Their colouring enhances strong purples, pinks and plums, while their airy delicacy adds movement and light to the border.

How to care for Bupleurum fruticosum:

This plant thrives in well-drained soil and prefers full sun to partial shade. When planting, ensure the soil is well-prepared and free of weeds.

Water regularly, especially during dry periods, but avoid overwatering. To maintain its shape and encourage bushier growth, prune lightly after flowering. If you wish to collect seeds, leave the flower stems intact.

This hardy plant is not only visually appealing but also a valuable addition to floral arrangements, both fresh and dried.
