  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: May to June and often again in September
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Large flowering variety that usually flowers twice a year from late spring to early summer, then again in early autumn with eyecatching violet/blue blooms. Each 'petal' has gently waving edges, with a pink/red bar through the middle meeting in a central crown of brown tipped stamens. This lovely clematis is suitable for growing in a pot or in a border along a fence.

  • Garden care: Remove dead and damaged stems before growth begins in early spring, cutting all remaining stems back to where strong buds are visible. Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of of well-rotted garden compost around the base of the plant in early spring
