  • Position:full sun or partial shade
  • Soil:poor or moderately fertile, moist, well-drained neutral to slightly alkaline soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: July to September
  • Hardiness: frost hardy (may need protection in winter)

Noted for its showy flowerspikes, which can grow up to 10cm long, 'Blue Elegance' is said to be more resistant to diseases, and have a better tolerance to low temperatures, than many of the other Hebes. Even when not in bloom, the rich green foliage forms quite an architectural mound, but it really comes into its own, when for several months from midsummer, it is topped with bee-friendly blooms.

  • Garden care:Needs minimal pruning. Remove misplaced or frost damaged branches in late spring.
