Hydrangea macrophylla 'Forever & Ever Pink'

mophead hydrangea

5 year guarantee
12 lt pot (0.4-0.6m) £89.99

This shrub is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: moist, well-drained, moderately fertile, humus-rich soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: July to September
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Noted for it's ability to flower (on both new and old wood) over a really long period from midsummer, this new, compact form is ideal for both borders or pots. Once established, it's easy to grow, and with the minimum amount of fuss, it will put on a dazzling show. Do keep in mind however that the flower colour will change depending on the pH of your soil (or potting compost), so in more acidic conditions, the flowers will take on purple or blue tones.

  • Garden care: Hydrangeas do not like to dry out - particularly if they are grown in a sunny spot. Therefore, if they start to wilt in dry weather, soak the roots with a hose and the plant will usually bounce back. Remove faded flowerheads in spring after the danger of frosts, cutting back the flowered stems to a strong pair of buds. Take out misplaced or diseased shoots. Mulch young plants with a well-rotted manure or compost in spring. Once established, remove a quarter to a third of the shoots to the base of the plant.
  • Humans: Skin allergen; Pets: Harmful if eaten
