  • Soil: fertile and moisture retentive

    Reliable dark leaved, hardy variety with long stems and excellent flavour.Shows good tolerance to rust and is slow to bolt, standing well in the ground until harvest.
    Winner of an RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliability and good performance. Part of the seed range produced by Mr Fothergill’s Seeds in partnership with the RHS.

  • Growing Instructions:Sow in trays or individual cell modules of seed compost.Sow thinly, cover with 1.5cm of compost. Firm gently and keep moist Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15ºC Seedlings appear 14-21 days
  • Care:Remove cover when seedlings appear If necessary transplant to further cells or trays. Stand outside for a few days from late May (avoid frosts). When 10cm tall transplant into holes 15cm apart with 30cm between rows

  • Sow: March to May

  • Harvest:October to February

  • Approximate quantity: 500 seeds.
  • Tip: Earth up the stems in autumn for extra whiteness
