Lupinus hartwegii 'Avalune Lilac-White'

5 year guarantee
approx 50 seeds £3.79
  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: moderately fertile, well-drained, slightly acid, sandy soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: June to September
  • Hardiness: hardy annual

This new, compact annual lupin is ideal for livening up the front of the border, or adding a splash of colour to patio pots. Its pretty bi-coloured flowers can appear just a few months after sowing, and they also have a sweet perfume. A great addition to the summer garden, the flowers are also suitable for cutting.

  • Garden care: Surface-sow on a tray or pot filled with freely draining seed compost and lightly cover with a little compost or vermiculite. Place in an unheated propagator; maintain temperatures between 18-25°C, and water when necessary. Germination will usually occur around 3 weeks later, and when the seedlings are large enough to handle, move them into individual pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Gradually harden them off and plant out (30cm apart) after all risk of frost has passed. Alternatively, you can surface sow them outside after the frosts in a well prepared bed.

  • Sow: March to May

  • Flowering: June-September

  • Approximate quantity: 50 seeds
  • Harmful if eaten
