Many dishes are finished off with a sprinkling of chopped parsley. The flavour lends itself particularly well to potatoe or rice dishes, but is commonly used to season fish, chicken or lamb. Ideal for a sunny windowsill or garden, the fresh leaves can virtually be harvested all year round. Parsley is widely used as a companion plant in the garden as it is said to attract predatory, beneficial insects.

  • Growing Instructions: Sow into the trays of compost in early spring. Seeds are slow to germinate so be patient. Once the weather warms up harden off and transplant outside in a lightly-shaded spot, allowing 25cm between plants. Later in the season sow direct into shallow drills and thin seedlings to final spacings. Pick leaves once they reach about 8cm tall. To speed up germination, water newly-sown seeds with just-boiled water.
