Parthenocissus tricuspidata 'Beverley Brook'

Boston ivy

5 year guarantee Perfect for pollinators
3 lt pot (60cm cane) £21.99

This climber is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: fast-growing
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

If grown in a sunny spot, the bright green leaves of this handsome Boston ivy develop a purple tinge in summer, but the real fireworks start in autumn when the foliage turns a rich flaming red. It's a self-clinging climber (it has tendrils with disc-like suckers that can cling to walls and fences), so once established, there is no need to provide ongoing support - although you will need a big space for it to fill!

  • Garden care: Provide some support until the plant is well established (this may take up to two years). Once established, tie in stray shoots and prune in autumn or early winter to keep the plant within bounds, paying particular attention to stems that are encroaching on windows, guttering or roofs.
