Most tulips are bred for their big, blousy flowers, so flower perfume has often fallen by the wayside over the years. If scent is a vital ingredient in your garden, however, then you will love the tulips in this collection as they all have a better perfume than most:

In each collection you will receive the following:

    10 × Tulipa 'Véronique Sanson'
Orange tulips tend to have more scent than the other colours, and this one is simply delicious with what can only be described as a rose-like perfume. The vibrant orange-red flowers really glow, especially when the early morning or late afternoon sun catches them. A great stem length for picking, it makes a perfect cut flower plunged straight into a vase. Grows to 40cm.

    10 × Tulipa 'Peach Blossom'
This variety is relatively short so it is suitable for growing in tubs and windowboxes where the fragrance can waft in the breeze through your windows. Boasting fantastic, fully double, dark rose pink flowers that are splodged with a creamy white at the base, this delightful, double early tulip is one of the first varieties into flower. Standing up well in wind and rain, they look great planted with Muscari armeniacum (grape hyacinth). Grows to 30cm.

    10 × Tulipa 'Margarita'
The petals of this showy tulip are a rich shade of magenta, becoming paler towards the edges. They form good-sized bowl-shaped blooms, which have a discreet but sweet perfume. Plant them near a seating area or doorway, where this can be best appreciated and mix them with purple, blue and pale pinks. Double early tulips are tough and robust, so are ideal for planting in windy areas. They are also one of the best tulips for pots and windowboxes. A great stem length for picking. Grows to 40cm.

  • Garden care: From August to November plant the bulbs 10-15cm deep and 10-15cm apart in a sunny spot with fertile, well-drained soil. While actively growing, keep them moderately well watered and remove the flowers after they have faded. At that stage a balanced liquid fertiliser can be applied each week for 4 weeks before they die down.
  • Harmful if eaten/may cause skin allergy
