Scilla peruviana

Portuguese squill bulbs

Product Image
A virtually evergreen, clump-forming perennial that produces balls of purplish blue flowers in early summer. As the flowers fade so do the old leaves, but new foliage develops in the autumn. Great if naturalised in grass though it does need some winter protection.

How to care for Scilla peruviana:

Ideal for naturalising in grass or a gravel garden in full sun and well-drained soil. Plant bulbs two to three times their depth (8cm/ 3in) in autumn. These are borderline hardy so a protective, insulating mulch of well-rotted organic matter could be applied after planting for cold weather protection.
