Sinningia speciosa 'Corina'

gloxinia Corina tuber

2 tubers £4.99
£14.97 £13.00
  • Position: partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil or fibre-based compost if grown indoors
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: usually from spring to autumn
  • Hardiness: tender (will need to be overwintered indoors, or in a shaded greenhouse)

Forming a rosette of scalloped, softly hairy leaves, which in summer is topped with showy flowers, this beautiful perennial could be grown and treated as a longer-lasting alternative to cut flowers, or overwintered and enjoyed again in subsequent years.

  • Home care: Place the tubers rounded side down, and lightly embed them into the surface of the compost. Keep compost moist but not waterlogged, and keep them in a warm, humid atmosphere. Whilst growing, the foliage should be protected from water splash and strong sunlight. If overwintering, lift and dry the tubers after the plants have died back, and store in a cool but not cold place until ready to plant the following spring.
  • CAUTION do not eat ornamental bulbs
