blueberry Flamingo ('Hoogi045') (PBR)

flamingo blueberry

5 year guarantee Perfect for pollinators
2 litre pot £19.99

This shrub is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: prefers moist but well-drained, acidic soil or ericaceous compost in a pot.
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

If you are looking for something ornamental for the allotment, or are looking for a plant that will produce yummy fruit - but still look nice, then this is ideal. It's a new hybrid, which like one of its parents ('Bluecrop') will yield lots of succulent, sweet fruit, but it also has attractively variegated pink and green leaves. These pink variegations may not be noticeable in the first flush of growth, but then it kicks in, and thereafter all the new foliage is really eye-catching.

  • Garden care: Prepare the ground well before planting. Prune in winter, cutting out dead or damaged branches. In spring, feed with sulphate of ammonia, sulphate of potash and bonemeal and top-dress with ericaceous compost.
