chilli 'Sweet Banana'
chilli
- Position: full sun
- Soil: humus-rich, moisture retentive soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Hardiness: tender annuals
Great for grilling, the long cyclindrical fruits of 'Sweet Banana' taper to a point and ripen from yellow to red. Coming in at a mild 100 to 500 scoville units (an indication of 'heat'), this chilli is gentle on the tongue with little or no tingle at all. With a tangy taste, it's great pickled, stuffed or used as a raw ingredient in its own right. - Care Instructions: Grow on in a well-lit, warm location such as a sunny windowsill or greenhouse until all risk of frost has passed before moving them to their final growing positions outside, in a sunny spot, or keep in a greenhouse for earlier harvests and hotter fruits. Keep well watered and feed regularly with high-potash tomato food once the fruits begin to form.
- Humans/Pets: Irritant if eaten; skin/eye irritant
