This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

The contents of this collection will vary (depending on the season and availability), however it will contain 6 different un-named wildflowers that are noted for their appeal to butterflies. Each plant is grown in a 9cm pot, and you could expect one (or more) of the following to be included.

  • Black knapweed (Centaurea nigra) - This tough native perennial produces whorls of brown/black bracts, topped with a light purplish pink or white inflorescence. Grows to 70 x 50cm.

  • Cowslip (Primula veris) - A much-loved and undemanding cowslip that will naturalise easily and form colonies on moist soil. Grows to 25 x 25cm.

  • Selfheal (Prunella vulgaris) - The flowers of this native wildflower are usually violet-blue, but occasionally they can appear pink or even white. Grows to 30 x 50cm.

  • Teasel (Dipsacus fullonum) - This much-loved biennial produces rose-purple or white thistle-like summer flowerheads, and seedheads that are attractive to birds. Grows to 100 x 50cm.

  • Foxglove Digitalis purpurea - Iconic woodland flowers that are found growing throughout the UK. Allow them to self seed and they form large, naturalised swathes. Grows to 90 x 30cm.

  • Field scabious (Knautia arvensis) - The pincushion-like flowerheads of this native perennial appear over a long period from midsummer and last well when cut for the vase. Grows to 150 x 30cm.

  • Greater knapweed (Centaurea scabiosa) - A variable but always attractive native perennial, it thrives in poor, dry soils and self-seeds freely. Grows to 75 x 40cm.

  • Ox-eye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare) - Found colonising roadside verges and grassland throughout the UK, it can quickly cover areas of bare earth. Grows to 90 x 60cm.

  • Wild carrot (Daucus carota 'Dara') - A striking and decorative annual with feathery foliage and airy umbels of pink and burgundy flowers all summer. Grows to 90 x 45cm.

  • Common yarrow (Achillea millefolium) - This tough, spreading wildflower has finely dissected aromatic foliage and flattened heads of white (or occasionally pink) flowers. Grows to 90 x 60cm.

  • Sneezewort (Achillea ptarmica) - Long flowering and drought tolerant, producing elegant sprays of pure white flowers over finely toothed, dark green leaves. Grows to 75 x 60cm.

  • Ragged robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi) - Finely divided petals create soft pink starbursts, which top the branching stems in loose clusters throughout summer. Grows to 60 x 48cm.
