In each collection you will receive one tuber of each of the following:

  • Dahlia 'Salmon Runner': A resplendent dahlia boasting numerous dusky salmon-pink flowers atop robust and sturdy stems contributing both style and substance to romantic or cut flower border and container displays. This free-flowering cultivar showcases approximately 11cm (4in) wide delicately formed blooms, blending seamlessly into pastel themed, cottage garden borders. The shapely petals, soft salmon-pink at the centre fading to white at the edges, deepen in hue over time, rendering each 'Salmon Runner' flower delightfully unique. Grows to 1.2m.

  • Dahlia 'Chat Noir': A sumptuous cactus dahlia with garnet red flowers (up to 15cm across), which have a near-black centre. The fully double flowers have long and narrow, pointed petals that recurve for more than half their length. This dahlia looks great planted in bold groups in a sunny, sheltered border or as part of an exotic scheme. The flowers appear from July until the first frosts, and make excellent cut flowers. Grows to 1.2m.

  • Dahlia 'American Dawn': A superb decorative dahlia with a blend of sumptuous shades. Initially, as the flowerhead opens, the predominant colour is rich pinkish purple, but as the ray-florets (petals) mature they turn a warm apricot. Grows to 90cm.

  • Dahlia 'Prinzessa ('Ariko 10-16')': Add elegance to your garden kingdom with this decadent double-blooming perennial dressed to impress in rich creamy yellow, elegantly tipped with deep regal pink. This noble cultivar has long straight stems bearing these glamorous blooms making 'Prinzessa' a majestic choice for cut flower arrangements fit for the finest castle. Showcasing graceful beauty from summer through autumn frosts, this decorative dahlia will reign over your garden and vase with an abundance of superbly coloured blossoms for months on end. Grows to 80cm.

  • Garden care: Dahlia tubers can be planted outside after frost, or started off in pots under glass in late winter to early spring. Plant them horizontally approximately 12cm deep, making sure the ‘eyes’ are uppermost. Allow enough room between each tuber so the plants can grow and spread to their full size without being overcrowded. While in growth, provide a high-nitrogen liquid feed each week in June, then a high-potash fertiliser each week from July to September. Stake with canes or brushwood if it becomes necessary. In mild areas, leave them in situ over winter, but protect the crown with a generous layer of dry mulch. In colder areas, carefully lift and clean the tubers once the first frosts have blackened the foliage and allow them to dry naturally indoors. Then place the dry tubers in a shallow tray, just covered with slightly moist potting compost, sand or vermiculite and store in a frost-free place until planting out again.
  • Humans/Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
