A striking collection of contrasting peony tulips boasting a captivating mix of delicate mauve-pink, near-black plum-purple, and fiery rich orange-red blossoms. Whether elegantly arranged in a cut flower vase or artfully planted in a vibrant spring flower border, these tulips promise to infuse any setting with a burst of vivid colour.

In each collection you will receive the following:

  • 10 × Tulipa 'Antraciet': Huge double flowers with loads of petals that make this tulip look more like a peony. Before they open, the buds are a very dark red, but once the flower emerges it turns a more purplish-red colour. This tulip, with its super-sized flowers, really packs a punch. Grows to 40cm.

  • 10 × Tulipa 'Backpacker': Mauve-pink double petals surround golden stamens in this peony-like double late tulip. Borne aloft on sturdy stems from lush grey-green leaves, ‘Backpacker’ mixes beautifully with the darker plummy-purple gem of ‘Blue Diamond', and the papery-pink perfection of ‘Finola’. Grows to 30cm.

  • 7 × Tulipa 'Black Hero': A stunning double-flowered tulip with deep maroon-black blooms with a satin sheen. This has been bred from the highly acclaimed tulip 'Queen of Night' and has the same distinctive midnight black flowers, but with many more petals. Plant it somewhere prominent so you can really enjoy the flowers when they appear in May. In the photos we have paired it with Allium 'Silver Spring'. Grows to 60cm.

  • 10 × Tulipa 'Orange Princess': An award-winning tulip which is a double form of Princess Irene. It has rich orange petals flamed garnet red that are yellowish at the base and often tipped with green. The inside petals have a brownish tint. These delightful, multi-coloured bowl-shaped flowers top sturdy stems in April. Grows to 35cm.

  • Garden care:
From August to November plant the bulbs 10-15cm deep and 10-15cm apart in a sunny spot with fertile, well-drained soil. While actively growing, keep them moderately well watered and remove the flowers after they have faded. At that stage a balanced liquid fertiliser can be applied each week for 4 weeks before they die down.
    • Humans: Harmful if eaten; skin allergen; Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
