This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

Quickly forming an upright clump, which throughout the summer is topped with poker-like spikes of rose-pink flowers. This moisture-loving perennial is useful for adding colour to the bog garden or pond margin, where the showy flowers will help attract pollinating insects. - Garden care: It self-seeds freely, so if you want to control its spread remove the flowerspikes as they fade.
