- Position: full sun or light shade
- Soil: moderately fertile, well-drained soil (for container-grown bulbs use two parts John Innes No.2 compost to one part sharp grit)
- Rate of growth: average
- Hardiness: frost hardy
This pre-planted and biodegradable 24cm diameter tray of 18 'drop in' bulbs, provides a simple way to create a stunning and sumptuous pink and blue-toned display in your chosen pot.
- Please note: The pot in the photo is not included.
Each tray has been planted with:
12 × Muscari latifolium: This is such a great little plant that in the past was voted as the International Flower Bulb Centre's official bulb of the year. The bottom two thirds of the flowers are coloured a very dark blue and appear near black in certain lights. Each spike is topped by a tuft of striking bright blue flowers, giving it a two-tone effect. Its leaves are broader and flatter than most other grape hyacinths, and they also have a tendency to wrap themselves around the stem of each flower.
7 × Tulipa 'Purple Prince': Glorious purple flowers, with a lilac flush on the outer edges of the petals, open as they mature to reveal a dark interior with a golden yellow eye. Held on stout stems above the grey-green foliage, they will hold up well in poor weather conditions and make excellent cut flowers.
- Garden care: After flowering deadhead and apply a balanced liquid fertiliser each week for the first month. Once the foliage has died down naturally lift the bulbs and store in a cool greenhouse, or plant them out and let them naturalise.
- Humans/Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
