When in bloom, ‘The Bride’ is the belle of the ball. For almost six weeks in April and May, this award-winning, elegant, deciduous shrub with arching branches is smothered in papery white flowers. Once these blooms are over and have scattered on the ground like confetti, soft green leaves clothe its stems throughout the summer, turning delicate shades of yellow and orange in the autumn.
How to care for Exochorda × macrantha The Bride:
When planting 'The Bride' add some well-rotted compost into the planting hole and a sprinkling of mycorrhizal fungi (Rootgrow) to aid root establishment. Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of conditioned organic matter around the base of the plant in early spring. Once established, prune after flowering.
