This plastic-free netting is a game changer for gardeners looking to grow more sustainably. It looks, feels and performs just like plastic net but is made entirely from plants.

The fine 0.85mm mesh keeps out all manner of tiny pests, including cabbage root fly, carrot fly, onion fly, cabbage white butterfly, pea moth, leek moth, cutworm, thrips, whitefly, leaf miners and many species of aphid (greenfly and blackfly).

It also protects plants from mild frosts, heavy rain and wind while still letting in plenty of light and air. The extremely high 88% light penetration and airflow means netted plants can grow unimpeded.

Even though it won’t last forever it’s very good quality and will last you for several seasons, typically at least 3 years. When it finally retires you can put it on the compost heap where it will biodegrade to feed your plants.

How to use:

After sowing or planting, lay the net over the plants to be protected. Allow for some excess material (approximately 15cm width) running down the centre of the net. This will be needed for the net to move as the plants grow. Fasten down all four sides of the net with soil, stones or pegs. For plants which require pollination, remove the net whilst in flower to allow pollinators access. At the end of the season, dry the net and store it away from light.
