Acer tataricum Hot Wings ('GarAnn')

Tartarian maple Hot Wings ( syn. Acer tataricum 'Gar Ann' )

Product Image
'Hot Wings' is a compact, ornamental Japanese maple that delivers year-round drama with its fiercely blazing red seeds (samaras), contrasting fresh green foliage, and fiery autumn colour. This slowly spreading tree bursts into pale yellow spring flowers followed by abundant winged scarlet fruits that adorn its branches like brilliant summer blooms. The deep red samaras are this variety's standout trait, offering a vivid display on a neat framework ideal for small gardens.

How to care for Acer tataricum Hot Wings ('GarAnn'):

Plant in a sheltered spot, away from cold winds. Dig in a hole twice the size of the root ball, add well-rotted organic matter and stake when young. Do not allow to dry out while it is getting established. Protect young trees from winter frost with a 10cm mulch of organic matter, taking care to leave space around the trunk of the tree. No routine pruning is required, just remove any dead, damaged or crossing branches in late autumn or winter when they are fully dormant.
