'Valfredda' is a lovely new compact form of this popular low-growing evergreen perennial with dark green-purple ‘chocolate’ foliage. This mat-forming herbaceous plants is a perfect foil for path edges and provides a wonderful contrast with paler coloured foliage plants such as Brunnera macrophylla ‘Alexanders Great’. Short spikes of blue flowers pop up in spring and this flower colour always works well with the yellow blooms of Alchemilla mollis.
