This pretty evergreen originates from seaside cliffs and rocky outcrops, so it makes an undemanding addition to both coastal and gravel gardens. It's also excellent in pots or alpine troughs. Forming a neat clump of deep green grass-like foliage, it's topped in late spring and summer with clusters of purplish-pink flowers, that are held aloft on slender stems - and are sought after by the pollinators.
Garden care: Remove spent flowerheads after they have faded.
