This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: moist, humus-rich soil
  • Rate of growth: average to fast-growing
  • Flowering period: June to July
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

A interesting and attractive new foxglove that is more reliably perennial than many other foxgloves. It also tends to produce a multi-stemmed flower spike, so it puts on a really generous display in early summer, and then often goes on to produce a smaller flush later on in the year. The flower's colouring is different too - being coppery yellow, and looking as though it has been dusted with cinnamon.

These plants are perennial, but do tend to be rather short-lived.

  • Garden care: Ensure that the soil is kept moist in summer. After flowering cut back the flowered spikes to encourage more sideshoots. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the plant in early spring.
  • Humans/Pets: TOXIC if eaten
