Trailing along the ground, this tender succulent perennial forms mounds of smooth, grey-green elongated foliage. From early summer to early autumn, abundant daisy-like blooms in shades of orange smother the plant. We recommend using Lampranthus as a seasonal pop of colour in planters and hanging baskets with other bright, tropical themed flowers. As temperatures cool, the plant can be overwintered inside or under glass until warmer weather returns.

  • Garden care:
Water the plants immediately after planting, but let the top 2.5cm (1in) of soil dry before watering again. Once established, they become drought-tolerant and will need watering only during extended dry periods. Lampranthus plants need full sun to keep the growth from becoming leggy and for best flowering. They do not need fertilising, as that causes overgrowth of softer, weaker branches. After plants flower, prune off the old flowers and any developing fruits. Lampranthus is commonly grown in pots that are moved indoors or under glass to protect from frost.
