This tender, succulent perennial forms low, trailing mounds with smooth, elongated grey-green leaves, triangular or circular in shape. From early summer into early autumn, the fleshy foliage is covered in abundant daisy-like blooms in shades of baby pinkish-mauve. We recommend this Lampranthus for seasonal use in tropical or brightly coloured planters and baskets, but can be overwintered under glass or indoors when temperatures take a tumble.

  • Garden care:
Water the plants immediately after planting, but let the top 2.5cm (1in) of soil dry before watering again. Once established, they become drought-tolerant and will need watering only during extended dry periods. Lampranthus plants need full sun to keep the growth from becoming leggy and for best flowering. They do not need fertilising, as that causes overgrowth of softer, weaker branches. After plants flower, prune off the old flowers and any developing fruits. Lampranthus is commonly grown in pots that are moved indoors or under glass to protect from frost.
