This delicate, fleshy perennial trails along the ground in low mounds with smooth, elongated leaves that are grey-green and triangular or circular in shape. From early summer through early autumn, the foliage becomes blanketed in abundant daisy-like flowers in tones of reddish-orange. We suggest using this Lampranthus as a seasonal accent in tropical or colourful planters and baskets. When cooler temperatures arrive, it can be overwintered indoors or under glass.

  • Garden care:
Water the plants immediately after planting, but let the top 2.5cm (1in) of soil dry before watering again. Once established, they become drought-tolerant and will need watering only during extended dry periods. Lampranthus plants need full sun to keep the growth from becoming leggy and for best flowering. They do not need fertilising, as that causes overgrowth of softer, weaker branches. After plants flower, prune off the old flowers and any developing fruits. Lampranthus is commonly grown in pots that are moved indoors or under glass to protect from frost.
