This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  Unusual mauve and yellow bi-coloured blooms are produced in late spring. This perennial lupin is ideal for growing at the middle or back of a garden border, or can be planted up for pots on the patio. Remember to deadhead after flowering and protect against frost damage by covering the crown of the plant.
  
  
• Garden care: Stake with bamboo canes in spring before the flowers appear and deadhead the faded blooms to encourage a second flush of flowers. Protect young plants from slug and snail attack.
