Miscanthus sinensis 'Kleine Fontäne'

silver grass

Product Image
Position: full sunSoil: fertile, moist, well drained or sandyRate of Growth: average Flowering period: August to October Hardiness: fully hardy

This stunning, fountainous grass is ideal for a mixed or herbaceous border, where it will add height, colour and movement for the best part of the year. The slender leaves have a white stripe down their centre, and they form a dense, relatively upright clump that becomes more splayed towards the top. It flowers profusely over several months from late summer, and its new, reddish-brown, tassel-like flowers offer a pretty foil for the older ones, which fade to silver as they mature.

Garden care: Protect from excessive winter wet. Cut down to the ground in late winter, before the new foliage appears.
