This perennial is semi-evergreen so it can lose some of its leaves in winter. In colder regions or more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

A perennial primrose sure to cure the worst of winter weather hangovers! ‘Husky Bloody Mary’ forms a basal rosette of simple dark-green leaves from which burgundy petals radiate, the lower half of each dabbed with a golden yellow that extends unbroken to the radiant eye. A robust and weather tolerant late winter and spring bedder that, once established in beds, borders and containers, are easy to grow and will provide dramatic colour year after year.
Plant out in a partially shaded and sheltered position, adding plenty of leaf mould and compost to the planting hole and backfill. Water well until established. Divide large clumps in late spring or early summer after the plant has flowered, preferably during a wet spell.
