The bold blooms of primrose 'Stella Scarlet Pimpernel' bring a pop of vibrant colour to late winter gardens and patio pots. This Primula cultivar unfurls velvety crimson flowers with golden centres, and flowers from late January, continuing through spring to deliver a striking splash of colour when it's needed most. The sturdy flowering stems rise from a compact mound of foliage, remaining steadfast even during the worst of winter's weather.
Plant out in a partially shaded and sheltered position, adding plenty of leaf mould and compost to the planting hole and backfill. Water well until established. Divide large clumps in late spring or early summer after the plant has flowered, preferably during a wet spell.
