The plants in this collection will die right back in autumn, then fresh new growth will appear again in spring.
It's easy to create an impressive summer-long display with these two. The spires of the willow herb add height and structure, while the billowing heads of the Baltic parsley add softness - and can be used in dried flower arrangements.
Each collection contains one of each of the following plants, each supplied in a 9cm nursery pot:
- Chamerion angustifolium 'Album': Ideal for the larger wildflower garden, or for establishing new borders, this very pretty, summer flowering perennial is much more garden-worthy than the species. It spreads to form sizeable clumps relatively quickly, and from midsummer, is crowned with tapering spires of white flowers. It's very impressive when in full bloom - particularly when used to illuminate an area of partial shade. Grows to 1.5m.
- Cenolophium denudatum: Big, blousy heads of elegant flowers are the star feature of this plant. They emerge above mounds of dark green fern-like, semi-evergreen foliage in mid summer and last well into autumn. These gorgeous flowers act as a beacon to beneficial insects and are great in cut or dried flower arrangements. Very popular with all the top designers now, this relatively new introduction to the UK is bang on trend. Grows to 1m.
Prepare the bed well by digging in lots of composted organic matter before you plant. For best results it is essential that the plants are kept well watered for the first year, particularly during warmer weather.
