Tiarella 'Pink Skyrocket' (PBR)

foam flower

2 litre pot £17.99
  • Position: partial shade
  • Soil: cool, moist, humus-rich soil
  • Rate of growth: average to fast-growing
  • Flowering period: May to July
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

The deeply lobed green leaves create a somewhat lacy effect, and each is irregularly threaded or blotched with burgundy. Then, in spring and early summer, burgundy-flushed stems bearing cone-shaped clusters of tight, pink buds are jettisoned, before opening to masses of tiny white, star-shaped flowers. It makes a sublime ground-cover for partially shaded position, and looks best when planted in naturalised drifts and allowed to meander.

  • Garden care: Removing the faded blooms regularly will prolong flowering and encourage more to come. Cut back and compost the spent flower stems in autumn and apply a dry mulch around the crown of the plant to protect against frost damage.
