This attractive, spreading shrub has small, pale-lilac flowers on upright, purple-tinted shoots in summer and silver-grey leaves with narrow red margins, retained all year. Compact and long-flowering 'Quicksilver' is an excellent accent plant for a rock garden or border edge.
Hebes need free-draining soil, so if possible, dig in lots of organic matter before planting. Water newly planted hebes regularly for the first season, especially in warm, dry weather. Once established, it requires minimal pruning, but misplaced or frost-damaged brances may need cutting back in late spring. Protect from severe winter weather with a double layer of horticultural fleece.
