Iris 'Tycoon'
Siberian iris (syn Iris sibirica Persimmon)
This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.
- Position: full sun or partial shade
- Soil: moist to well-drained, moderately fertile, neutral to slightly acid soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: May to June
- Hardiness: fully hardy
The gorgeous, rich purple flowers of this striking Siberian iris top upright stems in May and June - which makes them perfect for bridging the gap between spring and summer. A versatile and relatively low maintenance plant, the slender foliage of 'Tycoon' makes it ideal for adding vertical interest to borders or pond-edges, where it will spread over time to form generous clumps. - Garden care: Plant in soil that has been improved with well-rotted manure or garden compost and do not allow to dry out, particularly as the plant is getting established. If grown in a container, it will need dividing and repotting every couple of years in spring.
- Humans/Pets: Harmful if eaten
