Clematis armandi 'Snowdrift'
clematis (group 1) ( syn. Clematis armandii Snowdrift)
- Position: full sun
- Soil: moderately fertile, moist but well drained soil
- Rate of growth: fast
- Flowering period: March to April
- Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection)
This vigorous, evergreen clematis produces a profusion of sweetly scented, star-shaped pure white flowers from March to April. It is perfect for a sunny west or south-facing site, sheltered from cold winds. The glossy mid-green leaves are retained throughout the year, making it an excellent climber for clothing an unsightly wall.
This clematis prefers its roots to be in cool, moist, well-drained soil in a sheltered position away from cold winds and also benefits from the protection of a sunny, south facing wall or fence. Keep the roots protected during the winter with a thick mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure. Once established, prune after flowering. This plant is toxic to dogs if eaten.
- Humans: Skin irritant; Pets: Harmful if eaten
