Forming a dense, compact mound of rich green foliage, this new evergreen shrub, is ideal for adding year-round colour and structural interest in mixed borders. Then, as the plants mature, you will also be able to enjoy the deep claret coloured flowers, which form in clusters along the stems in mid- to late spring. It makes a great addition to a sheltered garden, and it will also flourish in a pot on the patio. Alternatively, it will look great when used to form a low, informal hedge at the edge of a border or pathway.
Garden care: Requires minimal pruning. To thin or reduce growth prune mid-spring and apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant.
