Magnolia 'Sunrise'

- Soil: any moist but well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: average to fast
- Flowering period: April to May

In early spring, the stems of this gorgeous magnolia are laden with large scented flowers, each of which is made up of bicoloured cream and raspberry petals. A relatively recent introduction, it's compact enough for large pots (provided it is kept well fed and watered), and it's also ideal for smaller gardens. - Garden care: Plant in a sheltered spot, away from strong winds. Requires minimal pruning. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in spring. Mulch in spring with manure or leafmould, especially on dry soils.
