Essential ingredients in many savoury dishes, the cultivars in this collection have all been awarded the prestigious Award of Garden Merit after being assessed by a panel of judges at the RHS.
How to care for Award-winning onion collection:
Plant onion sets from mid-February to March, 15cm (6in) apart in rows 30cm (12in) apart. Lift the onions when they are mature and allow them to dry before using.
What's included:
Each collection will contain the following:
25 x onion 'Red Baron': A mid-late maturing variety with flattish-round bulbs of a beautiful dark red colour. An excellent cropper producing attractive, firm well flavoured bulbs which keep well. An attractive addition in the salad bowl.
50 x onion 'Sturon': 'Sturon' is a flavourful variety which produces round, straw-coloured onions that mature in August. It is a good cropper with high yields and it also keeps well.
50 x onion 'Stuttgarter': An old favourite, with characteristically firm, semi- flat onions that store very well. Its flesh has a milder and sweeter flavour than many of the others.
