Plant in full sun in well-drained soil; it dislikes waterlogged conditions. Space trees to allow their tall, narrow habit to develop. Water regularly during the first year to establish roots, after which it becomes more drought-tolerant.
Minimal pruning is needed; remove any dead or damaged shoots in late winter or early spring, and lightly trim to maintain shape if required, avoiding cutting into old wood. Mulch around the base to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, but keep mulch away from the trunk.
