cyclamen

Product Image
Defying convention with its upturned gaze, this extraordinary open form cultivar boasts a profusion of frilly pink blooms that seem to lock eyes with admirers. Cyclamen 'Illusia' revolutionises the genus with its open-faced flowers, each adorned with a distinctive bearded eye at its heart, creating an almost interactive horticultural experience.

This compact, blooming powerhouse maintains a tidy, rounded structure while producing an abundance of sturdy-stemmed flowers, offering prolonged visual impact and flowering life if kept in cool conditions. Perfect for adding a burst of winter charm to indoor spaces, 'Illusia' thrives equally well in sheltered outdoor environments like balconies and patios as a welcome blast of seasonal colour.

Its unique combination of inverted, double-petaled blooms and unparalleled flowering density makes this cyclamen a true conversation starter, ideal for gardeners seeking to infuse their spaces with innovative floral artistry.

Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery pot), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.

How to care for Cyclamen Illusia:

Cyclamen thrive in well-draining, organic-rich potting compost or soil, with bright, indirect light, avoiding direct sunlight that can scorch leaves. These plants prefer cool conditions, ideally between 60-65°F (15-18°C), and can tolerate temperatures down to 40°F (4°C), but should be protected from frost.

Water your cyclamen when the top of the soil feels dry, watering individual pots from the bottom or around the edges to avoid wetting the crown. Never leave the pot sitting in water to prevent root rot. These plants appreciate higher humidity, so consider placing them on a pebble tray with water.

Cyclamen are sensitive to overwatering, so it's better to slightly underwater than overwater. During the growing season, feed every month with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser.

Gently removing spent flowers and their stems from the base, as well as any yellowing leaves. While the plant can be kept after flowering, it is often best used as a colourful seasonal annual or winter gift as it prefers a period of dormancy during the late spring and summer.
